Media Literacy for Kids

This article in The Conversation is an interesting and hopeful look at efforts and research to ensure that middle schoolers grow up to be discerning users of media by being able to tell the difference between real and false news. Despite having the “f-word” in the title - How a journalism class is teaching middle schoolers to fight fake news - it makes for interesting reading. The author, Ed Madison, is an assistant professor of Journalism at the University of Oregon. He says we should be aiming for not just “critical thinkers” but “informed ones.”
