Since the last blog post I have completed three reviews and launched one more.
The first review examined a complaint about television and online reports on assistance to Canadian banks during the global economic downturn. While there was not a violation of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices, I found there was room for improvement to provide greater background and context.
The second review involved three reports on alleged irregularities in the 2011 federal election, proposed anti-crime legislation, and an MP's dispute with a veterans' group. I did not find a violation of journalistic policy.
The third review concerned a Tweet from a CBC journalist about gun ownership in Israel. CBC acknowledged it was not accurate, and thus a violation of policy, but I did not agree with the complainant that the posting constituted anything broader.
A new review is under way into a complaint about a television report on impending cuts to the federal public service.
